"Little Red Riding Hood" is a fairy tale about a girl in a red cloak who meets a wolf on the way to her sick grandmother's house. The story may have started in the Middle Ages as a warning to children about the dangers of the woods.

In Charles Perrault's version, the wolf eats the grandmother, then Little Red Riding Hood. The story warns against trusting strangers. In the Brothers Grimm version, a woodsman saves Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother by cutting them out of the wolf's stomach. They then fill the wolf's stomach with stones, which causes him to fall down and die. The girl's character changes in different versions, reflecting the values of the time.
